The Ministry of National Defense elaborates today (1^st ) on the media coverage of “the Ministry of National Defense gives red envelopes while continuing to issue monthly compensations:

Ⅰ. “Monthly compensations” are issued according to Article 26, Paragraph 3 of the Act of Military Service, which was implemented since July 1^st, 2018. The adjustable part of the sum of pension, complimentary interest and monthly compensation is done according to average reduction method over 10 years. Since the article clearly states that the “monthly pension” shall also be reduced incrementally by year, such task is duly carried out by the Veterans Affairs Council targeting those that fall under such categories, which is not in violation of the original intention of the law.

Ⅱ. Statistics shows that there are around 30,000 former comrades whose monthly compensations are to be reduced over 10 years. The Veterans Affairs Council has re-issued today (1^st ) the difference amount of compensation not yet claimed in July and at the same time issued the claimed amount of compensation for the month of August to the bank accounts of the entitled persons.

Ⅲ. The Ministry of National Defense further says that the incremental reduction of compensation by year, carried out according to Article 26, Paragraph 3 of the Act of Military Service, is based on government’s intention to take care of former comrades and ensure their livings can be stable economically, which is why the reduction of compensation is done incrementally.
